diversity_3 What We Do Not Allow
Job postings and recruitment activity on Mustakbil must not unlawfully discriminate against candidates based on:
- Race, ethnicity, colour, national origin, or place of birth
- Religion, sect, or belief
- Caste, tribe, clan, or social origin
- Gender, gender identity, or gender expression
- Age (subject to lawful minimum/maximum age requirements for a specific role)
- Disability, where the candidate can perform the essential functions of the role with reasonable accommodation
- Marital, family, or parental status
- Pregnancy or maternity
- Sexual orientation
- Language, where it is not a genuine job requirement
- Any other characteristic protected by applicable law
A narrow exception applies where law expressly permits a role to be restricted to a specific sex, age, or other characteristic because the duties cannot reasonably be performed otherwise (for example, certain healthcare roles). Such restrictions must be lawful, genuine, and clearly stated.
Listings We Remove
Where we identify discriminatory language, biased screening criteria, or postings that violate our EEO standards or applicable law, we may edit, hide, or remove the posting and may restrict or terminate the employer account, in line with our Terms of Service.
gavel Legal Foundations in Pakistan
In Pakistan, several constitutional protections support equal employment opportunity:
- Article 25 — All citizens are equal before law and entitled to equal protection of law; there shall be no discrimination on the basis of sex.
- Article 26 — No discrimination in respect of access to places of public entertainment or resort, or admission to educational institutions, on the basis of race, religion, caste, sex, residence, or place of birth.
- Article 27 — No citizen otherwise qualified for appointment in the service of Pakistan shall be discriminated against in respect of any such appointment on the basis of race, religion, caste, sex, residence, or place of birth (with limited, lawful exceptions where a role can only be performed by a specific sex).
- Article 32 — Special representation is provided for women in local government institutions.
- Article 37 — The State shall promote, with special care, the educational and economic interests of backward classes or areas.
- Article 38 — The State shall secure the well-being of the people, irrespective of sex, caste, creed, or race.
In addition, statutes such as workplace harassment laws, disability-rights laws, and labour codes set further obligations for employers. Where you operate outside Pakistan, equivalent local laws apply.
work For Employers
- Write job descriptions that focus on duties, skills, and outcomes — not on the personal characteristics of the candidate.
- Set requirements only where they are genuinely necessary for the role (a “bona fide occupational qualification”).
- Avoid coded language such as “young and energetic”, “only male candidates”, “preferably unmarried”, or anything that signals exclusion of a protected group.
- Apply the same screening criteria to every candidate. Document your shortlisting and selection decisions.
- Where you use AI-assisted screening or assessment tools, review the output for bias and ensure a human is responsible for the final decision.
- Provide reasonable accommodation for candidates with disabilities during interviews and assessments.
- Train your hiring team on non-discrimination, anti-harassment, and inclusive interviewing.
