What you’ll be doing

Location: Karachi, Pakistan (on-site)

Shift: On rotation

Role Summary:

  • Work in process development, scale-up and production for pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs.
  • Report to Process Development Lead and collaborate with production, QA and R&D to ensure safe, efficient, GMP-compliant chemical manufacturing processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize and scale chemical synthesis routes and unit operations for API and intermediate production.
  • Prepare and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), mass and energy balances, and SOPs.
  • Perform process hazard analyses and risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, HIRA) and implement safety controls.
  • Support troubleshooting of process deviations, yield losses and impurity issues with QA and analytical teams.
  • Work on equipment selection, pilot trials, and technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
  • Monitor process performance and lead continuous improvement activities.

What we’re looking for

Must-have:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline with strong fundamentals in reaction engineering and unit operations.
  • Experience with process development, scale-up and pilot plant operations in pharmaceutical or fine chemical manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of GMP, process safety (HAZOP, HIRA) and chemical hazard control measures.
  • Practical skills preparing mass/energy balances, PFDs, material specifications and SOPs.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques for impurity control and collaboration with QC labs.
  • Experience using process simulation or calculation tools (e.g., ASPEN, MATLAB, Excel).
  • Strong documentation and change-control practices for regulated manufacturing.


Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or professional training in pharmaceutical process development.
