Job Description

Job Summary:

Engineering and Store Officer will be responsible for overseeing engineering operations, ensuring optimal performance of mechanical and electrical systems, and managing the inventory of spare parts and equipment in the store.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance:

• Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.

• Oversee the repair and replacement of faulty machinery or components.

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all maintenance activities.

• Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for specialized repairs or upgrades.

Engineering Support:

• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and systems.

• Provide technical support to the engineering team on mechanical and electrical projects.

• Prepare technical reports and documentation for maintenance activities and equipment performance.

Store and Inventory Management:

• Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment.

• Monitor stock levels and reorder items to avoid shortages or delays in maintenance activities.

• Conduct regular audits of inventory and ensure proper documentation of all stock movements.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities in inventory management and procurement.

• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality materials.

• Maintain accurate documentation of all store activities, transactions, and inventory levels.

• Prepare regular reports on inventory status and procurement activities for management review.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand material needs.

• Assist engineering staff by providing necessary materials and tools in a timely manner.

• Address any inquiries or concerns related to materials and equipment.

Procurement and Supply Chain:

• Coordinate with finance department for the procurement of materials and equipment in accordance with mill requirements.

• Evaluate items to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.

• Assist in preparing purchase requisitions and orders.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance, with additional experience in inventory or store management.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.

• Proficiency in inventory management software and tools.

Working Conditions:

• Typically works in an engineering store or warehouse environment.

• May require lifting and moving materials of varying weights and sizes.

• Adherence to safety protocols is essential.

Requirements & Skills

Skills:

• Certification in maintenance or inventory management is an advantage.

• Familiarity with industry safety standards and protocols.

• Hands-on experience with industrial machinery and electrical equipment.
